1-Churam
View point View point is at Lakkidi where you can get a
view of step. Misty Western Ghats and plains
2-Chain
Tree
A large ficus bound
by an iron chain associated with a local myth, located near to Lakkidi. It is
believed that ’KARIMTHANDAN’ a tribal youth helped the British to discover a
path connecting wayanad with plains of Kerala. To take the credit of this
discovery the British shot Karimthandan dead there often sole of karimthandan
hunted travelers through the way he discovered there after it is believed that
local priest chained his sole to this tree.
3-Pookkode
lake It sets in a beautiful valley and surrounded by evergreen forests and
wooded hills, it has been developed as a recreational centre having boating
facility,childrens park, shops for souvenirs and spices, fresh water aquarium
this is good setting for day outing with family.
4-Banasura sagar Dam peak ,this reservoir contains many islands formed
when the
reservoir submerged surrounding areas boating facility is available
in the reservoir by which you can cover
the 25 odd islands in the reservoir This is the largest earth dam in
India located near banasura.
5-Soochippara waterfalls
One of
main tourist attractions in wayanad, this three stage waterfalls is surrounded
by forest and mountains this is a marvelous tourism attraction.
6-Sunrise valley
The
beauty of sunrise and sunset will not be the same again if you have seen
sunrise and sunset from here, in the background of misty mountains and clouds
7-Karappuzha Dam
this is
the biggest dam in wayanad. It covers an entire area in water with many islands
formed in it
8-Edakkal caves
the term
‘Edakkal’ means “stone in between” and literally that’s how this cave is formed
this cave is formed by a corner of rock
splitting off from the main body due to some natural causes the cave wall
contain prehistoric rock carvings, that have drawn attention of archeologists
around the globe.
9-Phantom Rock It is a nature’s creative carving on rock. This
rock looks like the heroic character Phantom’s head, and that’s why it got the
name.
10-Muthnga Wildlife Sanctuary one
of the largest sanctuaries in Kerala, Muthanga is a
part of Nilgiri’s Biosphere region and connects Bandipur National park in
Karnataka and Mudumalai sanctuary of Tamilnadu. It has a large number of
Elephants and is declared as a ‘Project Elephant Site’. It also has leopards,
bears, sambar deer, Barking deer, Hammar Langoor slender loris etc.
11-Kuruva island
One of the main
tourism attractions in Wayanad. This is an island in the tributaries of kabani,
one of the three east flowing rivers in Kerala. This island is famous for its
richness in flora and fauna. Many tributaries of the kabana from a magic water
and land here
12-Heritage
Museum
The
objet d'arts dated back to between the Neolithic ages and the 16th century has
been neatly showcased at the Museum. The rare and exquisite collections from
various parts of the district have been exhibited at four blocks of the Museum,
namely, Veerasmruthi, Gothrasmruthi, Devasmruthi and Jeevanasmruthi.
13-Jain temple
striking Jain temple, dedicated to Ananthanatha Swami represents
one of the saints belonging to the Jain faith is situated just six kms from
Kalpetta. This temple is in the wayanad district and is commonly known as
Tippu’s fort. This is prominent as Tippu’s fort because Tippu used this place
for storing ammunition. Hence, it gains the name sultans battery. .
